He challenges recent scholarship and makes the claim that “the wise man” of 1 Corinthians is not a person of rhetorical prowess but a philosopher with a bent toward Stoicism. They talk about the value of mirror-readings in biblical letters and the prevalence of Corinthian slogans in Paul’s letter.
