Where worship enriches study through shared moments of prayer, learning, and table.
Welcome to Pen & Purpose, a communal writing and study experience designed to nourish both the soul and the intellect. Surrounded by beauty and books, the day follows a steady rhythm of prayer, fellowship, and focused work, with space to reflect on the power of words in today’s culture.
Inspired by the ancient monastic practice of a liturgy of the hours, Pen & Purpose weaves together dedicated times for both meaningful study and sincere prayer. This rhythm seeks to sanctify the day, drawing participants closer to God through a structure that provides time for both communal and individual devotion.
At its heart, Pen & Purpose is about cultivating a deeper community of learning. By bringing together residents, students, visiting scholars, and members of the wider Lanier community, it creates a space where study, prayer, and fellowship unite into a single act of worship, focusing academic discipline on God and shaping the written word into an offering.
Bring your manuscript, thesis, sermon notes, or any project in progress and join us for a day of quiet, communal study and prayer.
